The JB Brown Fund

The JB Brown Fund is a philanthropic partnership between USA Properties Fund, Inc. and LifeSTEPS. Our mission is to help residents of USA communities as they fulfill academic dreams, learn valuable life lessons through participation in sports, and meet financial hardships.  As of July 2018, we've raised over $1 million, with every dollar earmarked for our residents, not administrative costs.

RN Case Management Program gives seniors access to health care, the ability to age in place

RN Staci with Nancy, a USA ResidentUSA Properties Fund has partnered with LifeSTEPS to establish the RN Case Management Program, a free service that allows low-income seniors in three USA Properties affordable communities in the Sacramento region to get much of the medical attention they need within steps from their home.

With the new program, seniors have easy access to quality health care from a qualified and well-trained provider. The program also helps seniors “age in place,” a critical issue that has a far-reaching effect beyond health care.

“Aging in place is already a concern for many seniors, and it’s only going to become an even bigger issue in the future,” said Geoff Brown, President and Chief Executive Officer of USA Properties Fund in Roseville. “Access to health care is a major problem for seniors, and our program makes an RN available to answer questions, check on medications and, quite often, provide treatment.”

The ability for seniors to age in place often keeps them mentally and physically active. Seniors also often develop close friendships and social support systems in senior apartment communities. Moving seniors into assisted-living facilities or nursing care homes can cause depression and isolation, and often creates a financial hardship on residents, their families, government programs and society overall.
