Community Outreach
At USA Properties, we support our industry’s pledge to be good stewards of the land; this responsibility is a prominent part of our company culture. We work tirelessly with our staff, partners and affiliations, which assist us in defining and implementing socially and environmentally responsible communities. This, combined with our philanthropic endeavors builds a better future and brings about positive change in the lives of our employees and in the individuals we serve.
USA Properties supports a variety of organizations through financial donations and our employee’s volunteer hours, which when combined, have assisted these organizations in building better programs and stronger communities. A sense of community is one of the keystones that is important to our employees and contributes to our company culture.
Some of our affiliations include, but are not limited to:

USA United sponsored its annual toilet paper drive. This was a fun and easy way for USA Properties Fund employees thru USA United to help United Way's 142 nonprofit partners across Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo counties.
Our goal was 700 rolls. Our grand total the June 18th drop off date was 1,596! Thank you to all the USA Properties Fund employees that helped us exceed our goal and generously kept us on a “roll”!

July 2009
The Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento, in conjunction with the HomeAid, placed the call for volunteers to help paint the exterior of one of the Receiving Home’s resident cottages. USA Responded with 25 volunteers who spend 2 Saturdays in July power washing, prepping and painting the exterior of 4 dormitory buildings.
As the only emergency shelter of its kind in Sacramento County, in effect; they act as the "front door" of the child protective system. With a daily capacity of 98, they serve between 1,200 and 1,800 children each year. Children come to the Receiving Home from a variety of different sources and any child that needs a safe place to stay is considered for placement at this facility. (Additional detailed information is available at their website, http://www.crhkids.org/.)

United Way TP Drive
What? That’s right, you heard us say it, USA United sponsored a toilet paper drive to benefit the United Way, who will distribute this “daily necessity” to 140 of our region’s nonprofit agencies serving Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo counties. Examples of agencies benefiting are: Boys & Girls Club of Greater Sacramento, Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center, Sacramento Children’s Receiving Home, WEAVE, Inc., etc.
Why, you might ask? Nonprofit agencies spend thousands each year on toilet paper. For example, Loaves & Fishes, spends as much as $15,000 a year on TP alone! The more TP we can collectively donate, as a region, the more money our community's nonprofit agencies can allocate to the vitally important services they provide our community.
Just a quick note to say THANKS USA for your support on the TP drive benefiting United Way. We were able to collect and donate over 515 rolls to the United Way grand total of more than 33,000 rolls!
UNITED WAY - WE DID IT!

Winter Shelter @ Cal Expo
USA United is hosting two separate volunteer opportunities to serve the homeless at the Winter Shelter at Cal Expo.
The Winter Shelter is a collaborative effort between Volunteers of America and the County of Sacramento to provide shelter and two daily meals in a comfortable dorm-style environment. The former home of the Paradise Island arcade facility at Cal Expo includes beds for 104 women and 50 men. Residents may stay at the shelter for 14 days with extensions granted on a case by case basis. The shelter is open November through March and over 1500 men, women and children receive a safe haven annually through the program.
Over 18 USA employees volunteed or this event served dinner; provided dessert (homemade and pre-purchased) and bussed tables for residents of the facility.

got dirt?
The USA United Volunteer Team embraced the “got dirt?” theme as they provided landscaping labor for a newly constructed facility for PEACE for Families. The event was well attended with approximately 40 volunteers, both employees and families, spending a Saturday for the greater good of our community.
PEACE for Families provides temporary housing for individuals and families in Placer County who are victims of assault and/or family violence. USA partnered with PEACE for Families through the North State BIA’s Painting a Better Tomorrow campaign.

Calling all Painters…
The USA United Volunteer Team responded to a last minute call from the North State BIA’s HomeAid volunteer coordinator to complete a painting project for the local chapter of Volunteers of America. Volunteers of America is a national, nonprofit, faith-based organization providing local human service programs, as well as opportunities for individual and community involvement.
The USA United Volunteer team donned painter's hats and picked up rollers and brushes to give a fresh new look to the apartments of Independent Living Readiness Program clients November 2008. The 8 person crew scaled both ladders and scaffolding alike to reach the peaks of the 25 foot tall ceilings.

Waking the Village
2008 BUILD project was Waking the Village. The decision to choose Waking the Village as their project of the year was easier once they learned this cause had no other source of funds to complete their needed improvements. In these tough times, the BIA members and HomeAid stepped up to ensure a successful project. BUILD 2008 installed flooring, carpet, kitchen countertop, a window pass-through and fencing.

North State Building Industry Association Installation of Officers Banquet
A fun-filled evening was had by BIA members, special guests, and honorees Friday, January 9th at the Installation of Officers Banquet. Our own Michael McCleery, President of USA Construction Management, Inc. was honored with a special Achievement Award in recognition of his service and many achievements to both the BIA and the building industry.
